6 Apps To Help You While You’re Cruisin’ On The Road

Co-Pilot Live

Your family members really aren’t the most reliable source for directions and your friends can’t tell the difference between north and south on a map. It’s time to alleviate them of their position of co-pilot and let great app take care of the directions. Like other navigation apps, you’ll score the typical voice-guided turn-by-turn directions, but this has a little more to offer. Instead of completely shutting down like some apps do when there is no cell service available, Co-Pilot Live has a backup of offline maps to help guide you through those rough and rural areas. On top of that, you’ll get nifty things like speed limit warnings and pre-trip calculators, too.

GasBuddy

Don’t get caught running on low gas just because you were too stubborn to fill up at the last available place due to the prices. GasBuddy will help you fill up for a little cheaper when you’re in an unfamiliar part of town. It uses information provided by other app users to help you determine what the cheapest place to get gas is. If you’re low on gas, don’t worry, you can limit the app to search for gas stations near you. So, save your hard-earned cash for something more useful.

Roadside America

Are you a traveler that wants to see every attraction ever? Roadside America can help you with that. This app lets you know what attractions are near you so you don’t miss a thing. It even has a Sunset Alert to warn you if you’re about to miss a great photo opportunity. On top of it all, Roadside America knows what it’s like to miss a pit stop, so it has a built in feature to let you know where the closest pit stop is. Traveling is made a lot easier and more fun with this app.

Pandora

You’re probably already familiar with the Pandora radio for your computer, but the app can be a life-saver when you’re on the road. Don’t get caught in a car full of silence. Help yourself stay awake and rock out to your favorite tunes with the Pandora app. This will also help you keep your tunes fresh, so you won’t end up listening to everything on repeat. Share your favorite songs, get a personalized radio station, and rock on.

Alarm.com

While you’re out on the road, hundreds and thousands of miles away from home, you might begin to worry about your home. Did you lock the doors? Did you turn off all of your appliances? Is there anyone in your home right now? Don’t let paranoia get the best of you. The Alarm.com app can help you conquer these fears by keeping you connected to your home. Using your home security system, you’ll be able to take care of it all. Turn off your appliances remotely, lock your doors, arm your security system, and more. You’ll even be able to watch live videos straight from your surveillance system. For my home security needs, I use the Coppell home security company Smith Monitoring. They provided me with all of the devices I needed to protect my home. So relax and enjoy your trip. Let this app help you keep an eye on your home.

Trapster

Now, I’m not saying that I promote speeding, but I know that we all do it. However, there’s nothing worse than tacking an unnecessary $250 dollar fine to your vacation. Trapster can help you stay aware of nearby speed traps, traffic light cameras, speed cameras, traffic, and much more. This is a pretty nifty tool if you’re a speed demon, but again, you should probably just stay safe and leave early for your destination to make sure you make it on time.
